First Trip Away

The thought of my first trip away from Monty was waaaay worse than the reality. I was stressing & quite sad the day of leaving. I felt a bit manic whilst making sure everything was sorted and ready without me. I gave Monty approximately 1,000,000 kisses, but as soon as I got in the cab, I was absolutely fine and honestly excited for the break. Prior to this, I had only been away from him for 24 hours, and I’m glad this trip was only 3ish days as it felt like a nice start!

Whilst away I kept having this weird feeling like I was meant to do something or I was forgetting about something that needed done. I had to keep reminding myself to just relax and that I didn’t have any baby responsibilities to tend to. The plan was that I was going to FaceTime him every day, but every time it came to call, I felt sick and just knew it would make me sad. I didn’t want to feel that way, so I only ended up FaceTiming him on the morning of traveling home. I was sooo excited!

Honestly, having a break was so needed. I don’t have my mum down the road to drop him off and have a day or night off. If she was down the road, I would 100% do that. The reality is that I don’t get that break, so to be able to leave him with his dad and know he’s happy and go enjoy myself for a few days felt like bliss. I came back completely refreshed and ready to be the best mum ever!

I was worried I would miss milestones, but nothing major happened. His teeth were a little more obvious and he’s been saying “mumma” more clearly, but (thank god) I didn’t miss his first crawl! I feel way more confident now about leaving him if I ever have to again soon.
