Motherhood & Letting Go of Doing It All

Why I Got a Nanny

Finding My Balance as a Mum

I was always open to having a nanny for Monty or putting him into daycare. We’d had the conversation so many times before he arrived, and even spoke about getting a night nurse if we needed one.

For the first 10ish months, we actually managed fine between the two of us, juggling him and work. But around 9 months, I started to feel like it was time to get a bit of help - not just for support, but to create more of a routine and a better balance between mum life and work.

Living away from my mum, I always knew I’d need help at some point… and honestly, it’s been the best thing I’ve done for myself. Having a nanny means I get a couple of days a week where I can fully switch into work mode without feeling guilty about splitting my attention. It’s given me such a sense of balance again.

I also grew up with the most amazing nanny, so having that support for Monty felt really natural to me. It’s actually one of the main reasons I chose a nanny over nursery. I had such a special bond with mine growing up, and I still speak to her now almost 30 years later, which is just so lovely.

Seeing Monty build that same kind of bond has been so special. He absolutely loves her, and when she comes in the mornings he gives her the biggest smile - it’s the sweetest thing.

Another thing I didn’t expect is how much I’d learn from her. She has two children of her own, so alongside giving me time back, she’s also been such a great source of advice. From feeding and sleeping to little illnesses and everything in between.

I genuinely feel like having a nanny has made me a better mum. And I’m all for anything that helps me show up as the best version of myself for Monty. Having that time back, even just twice a week - gives me space to reset mentally, get my work done properly, and come back to him feeling more present.

And honestly, whatever works for you and your family is the right choice 🤍

Spring & Summer Bits

Rounded up some spring & summer bits I’ve had in my cart the past few days from Marks & Spencer that I’m loving! They’re affordable and full of cute, chic, easy pieces that are so simple to style.

A Little Zara Moment

Just placed a Zara order! If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been wearing a lot more pink lately and I’m loving it - I’ve got my pink back!

Of course I picked up some jeans (Zara denim never misses), and I also grabbed the cutest kitten lace heels for girls’ dinners.

Here’s what’s on my vanity for summer! These are my go-to products for the season. The Caudalie SPF is an absolute essential, the St. Tropez face mist for the easiest streak free and natural hands, and I’ve just discovered the Kosas blush - so excited to try it!
