Moving Back To Scotland
Moving back to Scotland is something I never ever thought I’d seriously consider again. After spending 16 years in the Highlands, I couldn’t wait to move somewhere with a bit more buzz. While I’ve always loved visiting, I was convinced I could never actually live there again.
But ever since Monty was around five months old, something shifted. The thought quietly crept in: What if it could be nice to go back? What if I might even enjoy it again, in a new way, now that life looks so different?
There’s also nothing like having a baby to make you realise just how much you still need your own mum. When she’s around, everything feels more calm and more supported. Jonny’s mum is wonderfully helpful too, but there’s something irreplaceable about having your own mum beside you as you raise your child.
Since Monty was born, I haven’t been able to shift the idea: Why am I still in England? For years, there was always an obvious reason such as university and jobs. Even my early days in social media were full of travel, meetings, and London events. But now, it’s just not that way at all. Everything I do is based at home which has left me trying to think of what reason there is to be here anymore.
That said, I wouldn’t move exactly where my family is. It’s still a bit too remote for me! Edinburgh is starting to feel like an appealing middle ground.
Of course, the big question is: Is the grass really greener? Would I regret leaving? England has definitely become ‘home’ for me the last 10+ years. We’ve also just bought our house that I absolutely adore, and I’m not ready to part with it anytime soon. Realistically, a move would mean a test run which would mean a year of renting to see how it all feels.
So here I am, weighing up a lot of things! There’s a lot that I think would be a benefit, but there’s plenty to consider as cons, too. I’m not rushing into anything, but it’s a thought that’s no longer so far-fetched.
Holiday Outfit Inspo
I have been in full travel-mode lately. We just returned from our visit to Scotland, and I’ve been busy packing us up for our trip to Marbella. I love putting together looks for all occasions, but it’s just a bit more fun when it’s for a holiday! It’s important to me to include some comfortable bits for travel along with some classic looks and adorable swimsuits.
