Pursuing Your Career After Becoming a Mum

I really wasn’t sure what life would look like working with a baby. Being self-employed, I knew I wouldn’t be able to take much time fully off, and I was a little nervous about how it would all work. But I’ve found myself in such a fortunate position — being able to work from home, with Monty by my side. I’ve always been grateful for my job, but now that I have a child, I truly see how much of a blessing it is.

After giving birth, I had a few jobs and deadlines already lined up. I’d planned to give myself around three weeks before picking work back up, but Monty came late, and I ended up only having about 10–14 days to film, edit, and send content. At the time I didn’t think much of it, but looking back, I’m actually so glad it happened that way. It set me up early for the reality of juggling work with a baby in the house. I’m one of those people who, if I stop for too long, I find it hard to get going again — so even though I was running on fumes, it really did help me get into a rhythm quickly.

I was also a bit unsure if bringing baby content into my work would resonate, but the response has been amazing. So many of you are in the same season of life, and the feedback has been so kind — it’s honestly encouraged me to share more.

Through infertility, I definitely lost a bit of my spark. It’s tough to show up online and talk to a camera when it feels like everything around you is falling apart, and I know my work took a hit during those years. But since having Monty, I feel like that spark is back. That heavy cloud has lifted, and I feel genuinely excited to create again. I even feel like I have a new energy and new things to share — I’ll always love fashion, but it’s nice to have more layers now too.

Now when I’m out in London for work, I have this strange new sense of empowerment. Like, I’m doing this for us now — building something for my family, not just myself. And I can’t lie, having a few hours of work outside the house feels really nice. It’s like a little breather and I always come home feeling reset.

Also… I am so much more productive now. I work during nap times, so I don’t have time to overthink or procrastinate — things just need to get done. It’s funny looking back at pre-baby me and wondering how certain tasks used to take so long!

Overall, I wasn’t sure how this work/mum life would pan out, but I’ve learned it is possible to keep all the plates spinning. Though let’s be real — once I’ve done work, baby, and house stuff, I definitely have zero brain space left for anything else. Still, I feel incredibly grateful that this is the career I’m in, and even more grateful that I get to work.

Where I’ve been shopping for the Spring & Summer

Abercrombie & Fitch - Spring & Summer Outfits

I’ve been loving Abercrombie & Fitch for my spring and summer wardrobe lately. They have the best denim pieces, the prettiest flowy white dresses (perfect with a cardigan), and easy linen sets for those hot days. I’m also into their strapless tops paired with relaxed, flowy pants — so chic and effortless!

New Look - Bags & Shoes

New Look has been my go-to for bags and shoes this spring and summer. I found the cutest woven tote that pairs perfectly with linen or denim, and a brown faux leather mini crossbody that’s super chic and easy to throw on. Their off-white faux leather flats and tan slingback flats have been my staples — they go with everything!

The White Company - Spring & Summer Shop

The White Company has been a favorite for my spring and summer refresh. They have such lovely kitchen and dining pieces — perfect for hosting or just giving the house a light, seasonal update. I’ve also picked up some cute linen pieces, cozy PJs, and the sweetest little baby outfits for Monty.
