5 Months Postpartum
Five months in, and I finally feel like I’ve found my rhythm with mum life. There’s a new kind of balance settling in—being present with Monty while keeping my work ticking along at a steady pace. Baby life right now is so sweet—he’s more interactive, full of smiles, and starting to look like a proper little human. I catch myself thinking, this is what he’ll look like as a little boy, and it just melts me.
That said, I won’t lie—things have definitely gotten harder with time. Before having a baby, I always assumed the newborn stage would be the hardest and it would get easier from there. But honestly? The early days were simple for us. Feed, burp, cuddle, sleep. Now it’s a full-time job of entertainment—feeding, playing, walks, multiple toy rotations—he gets bored so much quicker now. And naps? So much shorter! Sometimes we only get 35-minute windows, which means a lot less time to get anything else done.
The hormonal haze has lifted and with it, the oxytocin bubble has faded too. J and I have definitely butted heads a few times over the past month. It feels like we’ve officially left the newborn honeymoon phase and stepped into real-life parenting. And the PMS... wow. It’s been intense. Definitely one of the biggest changes since becoming a mum. I used to be able to take time for myself when I felt off—light candles, cozy up in bed—but now I just have to keep going. No pause button.
One of the biggest wins recently has been bedtime. Monty now goes down around 7:30pm, which gives us a solid couple of hours together before I head to bed. We’ll do a dream feed around 9:30-10, and most nights he sleeps through until 7am! Plus, since we’re not doing those middle-of-the-night changes anymore, I’ve finally been able to dress him in cute popper PJs instead of zip-up suits—major win.
I’ve also gained so much confidence in myself over the last month. Taking him out on my own feels second nature now. No panic if he needs feeding or changing—I just know what to do and where to go. I’m even flying solo with him for Easter weekend and, surprisingly, feeling really calm about it.
This stage feels beautifully messy but so full of joy I never could’ve imagined.
Current Postpartum Faves
A few of my current favorite things lately: I’ve been using the JS Health Scalp Serum since pregnancy, and it’s honestly helped so much with postpartum hair thinning. Revive Collagen has become my go-to for keeping my skin looking fresh and glowy—it’s a total game changer. I also love the Neom Wireless Diffuser for winding down in the evenings. I keep it in the bathroom, and it makes my nighttime skincare routine feel like a mini spa moment without the need for candles. And now that Monty’s outgrown his newborn bits, I’ve been loving shopping at M&S, Mamas & Papas, and H&M—so many adorable little tracksuits, dungarees, and cosy outfits to choose from.
Spring Outfits for Mum’s
Spring outfits for mums are all about keeping things easy, comfortable, and stylish. Creams, white jeans, and lightweight trousers are perfect staples for this time of year—easy to throw on and always look put-together. Slingback shoes are great for adding a touch of polish without sacrificing comfort. Linen shirts are also a go-to; they’re breathable, effortless, and still feel chic. And if you’re into trends, denim is having a moment right now—think oversized denim shirts, wide-leg jeans, and matching sets.
Spring Outfits for Babies
Spring outfits for babies are the cutest, and we’re loving all the soft, comfy pieces for Monty right now. Dungarees are an absolute favorite for baby boys—so sweet and practical. We’ve been reaching for cream sets, soft denim pieces, and anything with stripes lately. They’re classic, easy to mix and match, and perfect for that fresh spring vibe.
