The Stage No One Warns You About: One
Surviving the tantrums and hair pulling, Recent Zara order, and more!

My Honest Thoughts on the “One” Stage
Everyone talks about the terrible twos… but who was going to warn me about when they hit ONE?!
Weirdly, this has been both my favorite and least favorite stage so far. I absolutely love seeing his personality come through. Watching him develop so quickly, walking, attempting to talk, and just becoming his own little person. Life is also a lot easier when we’re out now; I can order food for him at restaurants instead of packing everything from home. But… the tantrums? WILD.
The refusing to eat has been tricky, but the hardest thing I’ve found to deal with is the slapping and hair pulling. I genuinely had no idea kids did this. From everything I’ve read (and what other mums have told me), it’s a very normal part of development — but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been really hard, especially when I’m tired and feeling completely touched out.
I’ve spoken to so many mums on Instagram who’ve said this stage is one of the hardest. Apparently it’s because they know what they want to say and what they want, they just can’t communicate it yet. So it feels like constant guesswork at the moment.
Going on holiday was actually super difficult. He was out of routine, not sleeping well, and only wanted me. I definitely had a bit of a wobble while we were there, wondering how I’d cope once we were back home and normal life kicked in again. Thankfully, since getting home and catching up on sleep, he’s been so much easier.
We also have four teeth coming through at the same time, which hasn’t been fun for anyone.
What I’m learning with every new stage is that there’s always a bit of shock at first, and then you figure it out. You adapt, you learn what works, and you understand them a little better. Motherhood really is a learn‑on‑the‑job kind of thing.
We had the best break in Dubai, but I think we’ll stick to Europe for the foreseeable future until we’re out of this phase. I’ve heard it gets easier again around 18 months… so I’ll keep you posted 😂
Traveling with Monty Faves
These were truly Monty and I’s favorites while we were traveling. The sticker book and busy board kept him happily occupied—no mess, which I appreciated more than I can say. The box container was such a win too; I packed his favorite snacks and even his dinner, so he had exactly what he liked on the plane. And the Silver Cross pram—hands down the perfect travel stroller and an absolute essential for getting around effortlessly.

Home refresh for the New Year
I always feel like there’s something so nice about resetting your space when a new year starts. Whether it’s swapping out a few furnishings, adding a cute lamp, getting new beds for your fur babies, or making small changes, a little home refresh really helps set the tone for the year ahead and makes everything feel fresh again. ✨
