Watching My Sister Become A Mum

Watching My Sister Become A Mum, Brown Staple Faves, and more!

Watching My Sister Become A Mum

Watching my sister become a mum has honestly been one of the most special chapters of my life. I’d always dreamt of us having kids together—used to ask her for years to try and have babies at the same time as me! She wasn’t quite ready back then, and my journey took a lot longer than planned, but in the end our little ones ended up just nine months apart. Walking into the hospital and meeting baby Ophelia when she was only a few hours old was one of those pinch-me moments I’ll never forget. I’m so glad I was able to fly out to Dubai to be with her in those days leading up to and just after the birth.

One of the biggest differences between us as twins is that I’m the organized one and she absolutely isn’t 😂 so naturally I took charge of setting up the nursery, organizing drawers and wardrobes, and even arranging a gorgeous coming-home balloon display with a few special gifts. Nicole always described the bond with Monty as being so much deeper than just “auntie and nephew” because he’s her twin’s child—and I felt exactly the same meeting Ophelia. It really does feel like being a second mum, that instant, unshakable connection.

She’s thrived in postpartum, and it’s been lovely being able to share what I’ve just been through myself and answer all her questions—though she’s definitely had a tougher time with feeding and her own recovery, which has given me a whole new perspective. The hardest bit is the distance, but we FaceTime about four times a day at the moment and are constantly texting. I’m planning a trip back out to Dubai in November so Monty and Ophelia can finally meet, and from there we’ll try to never go more than four months without seeing each other. I honestly can’t wait for holidays together and raising our babies side by side—hopefully they’ll become the best of friends just like we are.

Brown Staples For Autumn

Brown is definitely the colour of autumn this year and it’s such an easy one to style. I’ve been picking up some gorgeous brown staples from Abercrombie, Mint Velvet, and H&M—think cosy jumpers, chic jackets, and the perfect accessories to pull an outfit together. It’s such a timeless shade that works with everything and instantly makes your autumn wardrobe feel fresh and on trend.

1. Brown Jumper

I picked up this brown sweater from Abercrombie and it’s the perfect autumn staple. I love wearing it draped over my shoulders for a chic, modest layered look that instantly elevates any outfit.

2. Wool Jacket

I grabbed this wool jacket from Abercrombie and it’s such a gem — it looks super expensive but comes at a really great price. It pairs perfectly with a white or cream outfit for that effortless, polished autumn look.

3. Leopard Mesh Flats

These leopard mesh flats are perfect for this in-between autumn weather when it’s not too cold yet. I love styling them with dark denim — they’re comfy enough for mum life but still keep you looking cute and put together.

4. Tortoise Glasses

These tortoise glasses are the perfect autumn shade — they go with just about everything and have become my absolute go-to pair for the season.

5. Brown Bag

Any brown bag is such a staple for autumn — I’m especially loving woven and suede styles right now. They pair so easily with denim, cream, dark blues, honestly pretty much any colour!
