Weaning Products I’m Loving

I’ve genuinely looked forward to every stage of parenting, but weirdly, weaning was the one thing I just wasn’t that excited about. Up until now, it’s felt pretty straightforward — milk, nap, change, repeat. But introducing meals? Honestly, it felt like such a faff.

Don’t get me wrong, it has been adorable seeing Monty try new foods. His little expressions with each new bite are the cutest, and it’s been so interesting to watch him actually communicate what he likes and doesn’t like. Until now, we really hadn’t had any clear signs of preferences.

Now that we’ve started, I have to say — it’s way less effort than I expected. We decided to skip baby-led weaning and stick with traditional spoon feeding, which works perfectly for us. It’s less mess, less stress, and honestly, I don’t feel any rush to have him feeding himself just yet. Even gagging on purées is stressful enough — I’m not in a hurry to risk whole pieces of food. Like I said, no rush here.

I’ve been experimenting with different food combos and figuring out what he likes and doesn’t. But I’m also not against using jars for convenience — especially if we’re out or it’s been a chaotic day. We use HIPP Organic, and Monty’s absolute favourite is their porridge. He’ll eat the entire bowl. If you remember Ready Brek (still a favourite of mine), it tastes super similar!

One of the best things we’ve bought for weaning has been the Tommee Tippee 6-in-1 machine. It’s so helpful — steams, blends, cooks, purées, all in one. And most parts go in the dishwasher, which is an absolute essential for me.

I’ve also found a couple of books that have been great guides on this journey. How to Wean Your Baby by Charlotte Stirling-Reed has been amazing for those early days and really made me feel like I had a safe plan to follow. Weaning by Annabel Karmel is another favourite — I’ve been loving it for more fun recipe ideas.

I just got in my first Zara haul for the summer and I’m already enjoying styling all the pieces. I ordered several pairs of trousers and shorts that are going to be my closet essentials. And nobody does a linen shirt like Zara! I think I also have found the perfect mini bag for my summer holidays.
