Why I’d Love Twins

Being a twin is honestly one of the best things ever. You always have someone there with you—never lonely, always a built-in best friend, and someone who just gets you in a way no one else ever will. I grew up with that dynamic, and I’ve always thought about how amazing it would be to recreate it in my own little family.

I've always wanted three kids close in age, so having two at the same time and close enough in age to Monty would be such a dream. The funny thing is, we’re the first twins in our family, so we have no idea if it’ll skip a generation or if we’re an anomaly. But my twin and I always said growing up, “One of us is definitely having twins,” and for some reason, we just knew one of us would struggle to get pregnant. No idea where that came from, but here we are—our gut instincts are clearly on point!

There’s also the possibility of putting in two embryos during IVF, which sounds ideal in theory, but also a bit mad when you consider the risks—like what if both embryos split and I end up with four babies?! In an ideal world, I’d love to do it, but Jonny’s not too keen, and I don’t think doctors allow it unless there’s a medical reason.

Although I absolutely loved being a twin, it wasn’t always the easiest. We were so dependent on each other that moving away and living apart felt so hard. Growing up, making other friends was tricky because we were always a package deal—so close that we didn’t really need anyone else. And the fights? Next level. Sharing clothes and friend groups made every argument feel so much worse. Even though we weren’t identical, people still loved to compare us, which got a bit exhausting. I wouldn’t change my experience for the world, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when thinking about having twins!

So, who knows what the future holds? Maybe I’ll be a twin mum one day… or maybe I’ll just have three under three and still be in the trenches! Either way, I know I’d love it.
